Spied: 2009 Aston Martin V12 Vantage RS

There are a dozen reasons to get out of the way of this Aston Martin prototype – it has a V12 engine under the bonnet!

This is the first picture of the production version of the sensational Vantage RS, which was revealed in concept form last December.

The roadgoing model will be powered by the firm’s Le Mans-derived 600bhp V12 powerplant, which will provide sensational performance.

If early claims are delivered, the baby supercar will cover 0-62mph in only four seconds and sprint from 0-100mph in 8.5 seconds.

The engine is packed full of race-bred technology, and comes equipped with a dry sump, tuned exhaust system and heavily modified mechanicals. Expect the chassis to get an extreme set-up to match.

However, only a few lucky customers will get their hands on an RS, because production will be strictly limited when the car goes on sale in the UK later this year.
