Things are hotting up in Spain! Our secret snappers have caught the first undisguised examples of the scorching new SEAT Ibiza FR out testing.
Take a close look at this five-door model and you'll spot the bigger brakes behind larger wheels, together with twin tail pipes poking out from beneath the rear bumper.
In an effort to keep a low profile, engineers have used an essentially standard bodyshell. Expect the production version of the hot hatch to feature a sporty bodykit and range of eye-catching colours.
No details have been released about what mechanicals the newcomer will use, although powerplants from parent company VW are likely. Strong candidates are the 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine and the 168bhp 2.0-litre TDI unit from the larger Leon.
The rapid FR will be followed by an even quicker Cupra version of the new supermini. Based on the forthcoming Sport Coupe three-door it will be heavily influenced by the stunning Bocanegra concept that debuted at this year's Geneva Motor Show.
Although there's no official word on when the first fast Ibizas will be launched, expect to see UK cars hit showrooms at the end of the year.
