Last week, we told you about BMW board member Dr. Klaus Draeger's announcement of a EfficientDynamics Vision concept bound for the Frankfurt Motor Show this September. Said to be a "sustainable sports car concept," we expect the vehicle to be just as fast and stylish as it is efficient and eco-friendly. Now, we have these images fresh from the forums at bimmerpost.com showing what appears to be a concept car being loaded into a covered transport vehicle. It may be just a bit early to send the car to Frankfurt, but it could well be on its way to a private photo shoot to prepare publicity materials for the show.
Of course, the most pressing question is in regards to exactly what this vehicle is and what niche it is attempting to fill. It could well be the sports car concept Draeger referred to, with its blunt, aggressive nose, low roofline, rocker panel aero effects, and wide fender flares. We can only see two cut lines in the vehicle's side, adding more weight to the two-door theory. Still the vehicle appears to be fairly long and could be hiding another cut line above the rear wheel well, making this another four-door-coupe-type vehicle.
It's hard to get the full effect with the large plastic bag stretched over the car, but there are plenty of sharp angles in the front end, with a trapezoidal grille that looks similar to that of the current Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Should this actually be BMW's sports car concept, expect many of those covered panels to be made out of lightweight metals and composite materials such as aluminum and carbon fiber.
So while you're waiting for us to begin our Frankfurt show coverage this September, let us know what you think about the vehicle you see here. What do you think it is? And from what you see so far, is it a winner or loser in the styling department?
