New Car: 2010 Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion

Volkswagen has released details of its new Golf BlueMotion concept.
The eco-hatchback uses a 1.6-litre common-rail diesel engine producing 104bhp and 184lb ft of torque, an identical output to the current 1.9-litre Golf BlueMotion.
The new, smaller capacity engine also improves on emissions and economy, achieving 74.3mpg combined and 99g/km of CO2 – figures that beat the current model by 11.5mpg and 20g/km, and match the smaller Polo BlueMotion.
As with all of the BlueMotion models, the Golf concept uses improved aerodynamics, revised gear ratios and low-resistance tyres to achieve its green credentials. Performance is reasonable, with 0-62mph covered in 11.3sec and a top speed of 117mph.
Though the new VW Golf BlueMotion is officially dubbed a concept, the production car will be almost identical when it goes on sale in summer next year, following the launch of the new Golf in January. (Thanks to Autocar for News and Pictures).
